The housing allowance helps to cover employees' accommodation costs. Individuals in job group J cluster 1 are entitled to a housing allowance of Ksh. 10,000, while those in cluster 2 receive Ksh. 7,500, and cluster 3 employees receive Ksh. 5,800.
This allowance covers employees' costs of commuting to and from work. Individuals in job group J cluster 1 are entitled to a housing allowance of Ksh. 6300, while those in cluster 2 receive Ksh. 4,900, and cluster 3 employees receive Ksh. 3,000.
In addition, public servants are also entitled to other allowances, including risk and transfer allowances.
In county governments, employees in Job Group J have a designated basic salary ranging from Ksh. 31,270 to Ksh. 41,260 per month and are pensionable. The employees are also entitled to allowances as per the SRC circular.
According to Paylab and MySalaryScale, the salary range for people working in Kenya is from Ksh. 31,481 (minimum salary) to Ksh. 113,338 (highest average; the actual maximum wage is higher).
